When I first saw this recipe I knew it would be perfect for my next cookout. It's simple, fresh and elegant and it takes no time to make. There's nothing better, especially when you're entertaining friends an family than a tasty recipe that is easy and only requires a few simple ingredients. Of course, for this recipe where you're only cooking green beans to crisp-tender you must have the freshest green beans. This recipe is attributed to Try-Foods International.

 


 

Lemon Green Bean & Celery Salad

1 1/2 lbs. Green beans, trimmed
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1/4 Cup thinly sliced shallots
2 Cups diagonally sliced celery
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
1/3 Cup chopped parsley
2 Tablespoons grated lemon peel
Salt and Pepper to taste




Cook the green beans in lightly salted water for 5 to 7 minutes or until tender-crisp. Drain the beans and plunge into a bowl of ice water. Drain thoroughly, pat dry with paper towels.

Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add shallots and celery; cook and stir 3 to 4 minutes.

Add green beans, lemon juice, parsley and lemon peel; toss to combine. Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes or until beans are warm. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Thanksgiving Dinner Recipes, Turkey Help
I took the turkey out of the freezer and put it into the refrigerator two days before Thanksgiving so that it would thaw thoroughly. I also kept an eye on it to make sure it was thawing. The day before Thanksgiving I got the turkey out, removed the giblets and rinsed it. I put the turkey back in the refrigerator.

Green Bean Salad
A recipe from my great-grandmother. This is a recipe that's always been a favorite of my Mom's. She's of German heritage and said that she learned it from her Grandmother. For this recipe you'll want to cook the beans until they are tender, but still slightly firm. Green Bean Salad Cut the ends off of one pound of green beans and then cut them into 2 inch lengths. Drop them into boiling water and cook them uncovered for 10-15 minutes. .
